Our Board of Governors is a group of professionals, longtime volunteers, and lifelong theatre lovers who share the goal of making sure WRLT is still telling stories sixty years from now. Between them, they bring the mix of skills any nonprofit needs to thrive alongside a deep, personal investment in this theatre's future. Many have spent years in our productions before ever sitting on the board, so their decisions are shaped by real experience on stage, backstage, and behind the scenes. It's a board that leads with both good governance and a love of the craft.

We don't post board openings the way we post auditions — seats on the Board of Governors open occasionally, and when they do, we look first to people who already know this theatre from the inside. If serving on the board is something you're interested in down the road, here's how you become eligible for consideration.
Before You're Eligible
Board candidates are expected to have been actively engaged in WRLT productions and volunteer work for a minimum of one to two years: on stage, backstage, in the lobby, or wherever your time has gone. This is how the board gets to know your work ethic, and how you get to know how this theatre really runs.
Board members represent WRLT publicly, so we look for people in good standing within the community that are reliable, well-regarded, and known for showing up.
Above all, we're looking for people who genuinely believe in what live, local theatre does for Warner Robins, and who'll carry that belief into board decisions. Meeting these expectations doesn't guarantee a seat on the board— there simply aren't regular openings. What it does is put you in a position to be considered when there is one.
How the Process Works
Once you've built that track record, here's what happens when a seat becomes available:
A current board member, or several, nominates you for consideration. This is what puts your name in the running. Becoming a board member isn't something you apply for directly.
The board's nominating committee reviews all nominees and narrows the field to the candidates they'd like to move forward.
If you're selected at this stage, someone from the committee will reach out to gauge your interest and availability — and may ask you to complete a short application. Neither of these steps confirms your appointment; they simply keep you eligible for the next step.
The nominating committee brings its selections to the entire Board of Governors for a vote.
If approved by the board, your appointment is confirmed and you officially join the Board of Governors.
At every stage, being considered is not the same as being appointed. The process is designed to be thorough and the board makes its final decisions together.

The best way to prepare for a future board opening is simple: keep showing up. Volunteer for a production, join a crew, take on a role at the box office, or find your place backstage. The people who end up on our board are, almost without exception, the people our community already knows well from seeing them here.
